Z-Wave Kwikset 914 Dead Bolt Review and Comparison to older 910

The New Kwikset 914 Lock is out! We do a comparison between the 910 and the 914 locks.

914 Specs:
The all-metal lock, which is BHMA Grade 2 certified, holds up to 30 user codes. Its UL certification verifies it can withstand fires for up to 20 minutes. As well as new Master Code feature. We now can recommend Kwikset 914 locks to property managers and in uses like vacation rentals.

Great video – looking forward to more.. can you show the control room and setup with the vera with the IPAD ?

Also important to note the new bolt design. It is tapered to allow a little more wiggle room on the install. Nearly every door in my house requires a little push or pull to line the bolt up. I just bought 5 of these, and I’m hoping that taper speeds up the install!

Is it a good idea to use on an apartment with 2 locks?

Adam Williams says:

Speaking on the 910 lock about changing or adding codes. If it was connected to a z wave controller you would be able to delete and add codes even if they were added manually. So it seem you reviewed it without talking about the uses which you initially intended on using it. So how much did kwikset pay you to do this video for youtube? Too funny

Michael Hinchey says:

Could you help with creating a simple scene that would just lock my door if it was opened. Like every 10 min it would check to see if the door was unbolted and bolt it if it wasn’t. I had this on the old iU4 but deleted it by mistake. Now with the iu5 I cannot get it to work. thank you for your time.

DCIPhan says:

Let’s say this lock is installed on a rental property that is several hours from your main home. Are you able to remotely add and delete user codes via the web through the Zwave technology or do you have to be on site to change the codes?

Great video you went over everything I wanted to know.

Good product review. I purchased the 914 and the installation was easy. However, there is no info about the wireless home automation in the user manual. Is there anyway to test the Z wave to make sure its working? Is there an android app or apple app to work with this unit? I installed multiple home automation apps from android app store and none of them seems to detect this unit. Please help.

Explain what Z’Wave is and what Iphone app do I need for the 916 lock???
